Australia’s Last Bushranger – Renowned Artist Doug Morgan

Date

Doug Morgan spent more than a decade inside Melbourne’s notorious Pentridge Prison, where he discovered a talent that would change his life — painting. In the 1970s, Doug and his identical twin brother Peter embarked on a crime spree, robbing country banks while dressing alike and striking different towns simultaneously. Police believed they were chasing one man — the so-called “After Dark Bandit.”

Serving a 17-year sentence gave Doug time to reflect. Since his release, he has turned his life around, volunteering with the Salvation Army after the Black Saturday bushfires and delivering motivational talks to inmates at Ravenhall Prison. Dubbed by the media as “the last bushranger,” Doug is now a highly sought-after artist known for his striking Ned Kelly paintings.
